Smart Collaborative Learning Factory
This year, for the first time, we have taken on an exciting challenge by combining four study programs from three different families: Mechanical Manufacturing Design and Industrial Mechatronics (upper-level cycles), along with specializations in Collaborative Robotics and Digitalization of Industrial Maintenance.
The objective of the challenge was to set up an automatic line to manufacture a wheel (with two axles and a tire), which includes a press, a robot, and a conveyor belt. The Design students created the molds for the three parts of the wheel; the Mechatronics students programmed the conveyor belt and developed a digital twin; the Collaborative Robotics students programmed an ABB collaborative robot and an AMR Omron; and the Industrial Maintenance Digitalization students integrated IoT, smart sensors, and condition monitoring.
The concept of the Smart Collaborative Learning Factory is an initiative aimed at promoting innovation and collaboration in both educational and industrial fields. The students worked on the installation and development of an automated and robotized line, integrating advanced Industry 4.0 technologies. Additionally, it promotes collaboration between different cycles and disciplines, providing conditions similar to those of a real industrial environment to gain practical experience.
